Dishes in the sink, dirty clothes in the laundry, toys on the living room floor or shoes scattered all through the garage…does this sound familiar? We all take pride in our home, but at times it can all get too much. Perhaps you have a baby and struggling to create a new routine, you’re working full time, you’re wanting to spend time with family rather than cleaning, you’re not feeling yourself, lacking energy, you’re a hoarder… or maybe you are just overwhelmed with everyday life.
The clutter around us can have a negative impact on our ability to focus. However, by clearing the clutter from your home, it can help you feel clearer, mentally as well.
CREATE SOME GOALS
I want to ask you a few questions. Write down your answers as this will help you to create goals for yourself and determine what’s most important to you, where to start and what you want to achieve in your home.
- When at home I want to feel…
- I want to spend more time doing…
- I want an area of my home I can…
- The most disorganised cupboard in my home is…
- The first thing I want to organise is…
- I don’t need anymore, but can’t part with…
- I always lose…
- I want to be organised by…

CREATE SORT BUCKETS
During the next 4 weeks we will be organising, purging excess items and throwing away rubbish. In order to do this have on hand a number of buckets, bins, bags or storage containers. Create your own labels with marker and paper, or download and print the labels available in the downloads below, you will need to label them as follows:
Keep: something you find in one room that belongs in another. You could put it away once you find it, but if you are time poor put it in the keep bin to put away later
Donate: an item that you no longer want or need but is still in working order for somebody else to use
Sell: items that you can sell if you are going to have a garage sale or sell online
Rubbish: items that are broken, can’t be mended, doesn’t work or is rubbish

All ready to start! Will get the sorting bins today! Thanks 🙂
Look at you go! ??
Tasks all completed! Looking forward to finally getting my house sorted, has been a challange with hurricanes Mr 3 and Miss 10 months always on the go. Even better this program coincides with verge collection!
Just wondering if there is somewhere I can access all the downloads that come with the deluxe course so I can print them all off now? Or do they become available once week one starts??
Hi Kylie you sure can, I’ve emailed you the link 🙂
will print out labels when I get into work (printing is considered overtime payment in my mind!) But I’m using old boxes (all matching – of course) that I have around. I don’t want to add more plastic to my house…boxes will do the same job I think.
Buying some containers tomorrow for my labels. Otherwise all done now
You’ve been on a roll Megan, I love it, now your all set for Day 1!!!!!
All pre challenge tasks are completed. I’m looking forward to a tidy home. Thanks Kat for the motivation and inspiration.
I look forward to reading your progress!!
OK so possibly not the best start but I have had some stuff come up that has prevented me from starting (health issues). I am going through each day and reading and downloading and will probably start a week or two behind. Also like one of the other ladies my plan will be to take 2 weeks to do one week of tasks. If I can do more I will, but my health issues can sometimes make it hard to do that. I am looking forward to finally developing habits that will help me stay on top of things. Thank you
I hope your OK Kerrie. That’s OK to start when it suits you. I’ll be here at the other end of the computer helping you when you do decided it’s the right time to start. I think that’s a good idea to take it slowly, take your time and look after you xx
Hi Kat,
Love your stuff! Just wondering if it would be possible to have a quick list on the left hand side of what rooms are what day for quick access post challenge when searching for specific items. I quite often come back to the challenge for help and feel it’s time wasted looking through to find what I need. Otherwise loved the challenge (although I took a longer time to complete it) it was so helpful!!
Cheers, Nat
Goals are short term at the moment and then I’ll work on bigger ones.
Still working on these. Trying not to make unattainable goals is hard. I’ll definitely be taking at least 2 weeks to do each weeks tasks otherwise I’ll burnout and not finish. My main goal is to succeed in this challenge so if it takes me longer I’ll learn to be ok with it. I think I’m ready to start with confidence now
Love this, you have completed all the tasks which have all set you up to succeed in this challenge. And that you have a great mindset from the get go, knowing your limits and balancing it to suit your household. You have lifetime membership, so take your time. If the emails I send you each day are getting to much let me know and I can stop sending them 🙂 Hope you enjoy Day 1!
That’s the great thing about the challenge, you can do it at your own pace!
Well done ?
We have been away on holidays but we are home tomorrow and before we left I finished the pre tasks so I’m all ready to go.
I work outside the home, school hours which is great but with after school activities, we are rarely home before 5.30pm. I can’t imagine finishing a challenge in a day during the week so my 20 days will possibly be 30 or 40. I just have to be ok with that.
I’m so excited to start though. I have always been a very structured person but have lost my groove the last few years. I am already feeling better just knowing I have this plan to get back on track.
Wish me luck 🙂
Love this Kim, I am back now from a 3 week break. How have you been going with the challenge so far?
Thanks Kat, I’m doing great. Kitchen is al done. And my bedroom. I’ve been following my new morning routine and our days are so much better.
This week as well as this challenge, I’m starting a new budget so we can save for a family holiday next year. I’ve bought your budget spreadsheet and I’m using lots of your tips.
Really excited about all the charges. Thank you for the inspiration x
