Dishes in the sink, dirty clothes in the laundry, toys on the living room floor or shoes scattered all through the garage…does this sound familiar? We all take pride in our home, but at times it can all get too much. Perhaps you have a baby and struggling to create a new routine, you’re working full time, you’re wanting to spend time with family rather than cleaning, you’re not feeling yourself, lacking energy, you’re a hoarder… or maybe you are just overwhelmed with everyday life.
The clutter around us can have a negative impact on our ability to focus. However, by clearing the clutter from your home, it can help you feel clearer, mentally as well.
CREATE SOME GOALS
I want to ask you a few questions. Write down your answers as this will help you to create goals for yourself and determine what’s most important to you, where to start and what you want to achieve in your home.
- When at home I want to feel…
- I want to spend more time doing…
- I want an area of my home I can…
- The most disorganised cupboard in my home is…
- The first thing I want to organise is…
- I don’t need anymore, but can’t part with…
- I always lose…
- I want to be organised by…

CREATE SORT BUCKETS
During the next 4 weeks we will be organising, purging excess items and throwing away rubbish. In order to do this have on hand a number of buckets, bins, bags or storage containers. Create your own labels with marker and paper, or download and print the labels available in the downloads below, you will need to label them as follows:
Keep: something you find in one room that belongs in another. You could put it away once you find it, but if you are time poor put it in the keep bin to put away later
Donate: an item that you no longer want or need but is still in working order for somebody else to use
Sell: items that you can sell if you are going to have a garage sale or sell online
Rubbish: items that are broken, can’t be mended, doesn’t work or is rubbish

All printing done and ‘my’ list of things-to-do before challenge starts – off to work now (and I promise to set up my binder when I get home from work.)
How did you go Janet, have you set up your binder yet?? Promise I’m not nagging LOL x
ok, I’ve gone ahead and prepared my folder as much as possible so that on each day I’ll be able to get up and into it as early as possible (it’s going to be a big job groan!) but I want a home for everything and I want to be able to put things away properly and I want to get rid of excess (I’m a recovering hoarder) and I feel good that each day is broken down into specific tasks. Being less overwhelmed equals doing a better job. I want to stop feeling like I’m continually fighting fires.
I feel good about this Kat
thanks
I love your mindset Anna, you’ve made the first step! Take a look at day 1 and make a head start, remember don’t do it all, you don’t need to clean the oven, that’s a task for another day.
OK, ready to role. Looking forward to this Kat. 🙂
Great work Lyndall 🙂
Finally got all my pre-challenge tasks completed, just need to go to the shops to get the “extras” for my cleaning kit etc. Filling in the goals was surprisingly easy:
I want to feel RELAXED while I’m at home.
I want to spend more time DOING STUFF WITH MY KIDS.
I want an area of the home where I can HAVE ‘ME’ TIME.
I want to organise MY CUPBOARDS/STORAGE SPACES.
I always lose MY MIND……but seriously MY KEYS & MOBILE.
I don’t need anymore, but am having trouble parting with KIDS KEEPSAKES/MEMORABILIA.
that’s good that it was easy Kate, you know what you want to achieve and hopefully you can help to focus on these.
Done my Pre Tasks!
Looking forward to getting into the challenge. Have been wanting to do this challenge for a while but have finally bitten the bullet!!! Not sure if attempting it during school holidays was a good or bad idea!!!
Ok, have printed everything for pre-challenge tasks and will work through over next couple of days. Watch this space!
can’t wait to see how you go Sharon and looking forward to hearing how you enjoy waking up to a clutter free bedroom x
Wow. I thought this one was going to be tough. Apparently not. Once I actually thought about why I enrolled in your program, it was easy to come up with my goals. Thanks Kat!
That’s fab to hear Michelle, this will give you a bit of guidance through the challenge 🙂
Hi just wondering if all your 20 day cleaning challenge now are the same as say a year ago?
Wasn’t sure if I needed to purchase it again to see if anything is different. Thanks Celeste
Hi Celeste, it’s the same, you don’t need to purchase again as you have lifetime access. I have just emailed you to see if you wanted to join up again (free as you have the lifetime access) and I will send you the emails daily again so you can go through it again in time for Christmas.
Done my pre tasks. Ready to do it again 3rd time round.
Didn’t have much success last time as there was too many sickness and injuries in my household.
Cross fingers for third time round.
You got this Michelle!! Hope all the family and healthy and well for you to get through it 🙂
Done and done!
Love it Rachael, looked lie you were on a good role there for all the pre-challenge tasks. How have you gone with the day challenges?
