PRE CHALLENGE TASK 1

by Kat - The Organised Housewife August 9, 2014September 3, 2018

CREATE YOUR 20 DAY BINDER

During the challenge I will provide you with lots of printables:

  • Daily task sheet
  • To-do list
  • Checklists
  • Routine charts

SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR THIS TASK:

  • A4 Ring binder folder (I purchase mine from Kmart or Officeworks)
  • A printer
  • Pack of 4 dividers or place the page dividers into plastic sleeves and use tabs to label the sleeves (I purcahsed my tabs from Kmart for $2).
  • Have on hand at least 40 pieces of A4 paper to print the printables

Steps for this task:

[wlchecklist name=’PreTask1′]

Trim the spine page just shy of the text (2mm) so its easier to place into the binder.  I find it easier to place the spine into the binder when the binder is completely open.

Keep your folder on hand so you can add your daily sheets to it each week.

Daily Tasks

You will find on each page a daily task sheet to correspond with the tasks within the challenge.  You can print these from each page individually, or at the beginning of each week you will find all 5 daily sheets for that week on the weekly pages.

Hi there
I have signed up for this challenge as I have been overwhelmed with clutter.
My daughter has just decided she is getting rid of her my little pony collection, so many of her clothes and to add to the chaos my hubby has decided he wants my sewing room (not hugely big) for an office so he can work from home.
My mum who I figured is the source of my hoarding (we also have it in our family with my mum and my grandmother) came to “help me out” and I ended up nearly having a panic attack and not being able to breathe. I felt like I was on one of those hoarding shows when the people go berserk as I nearly did at my mum and had to go outside and take huge breaths.
I have quit my government job from being bullied and have been home since April last year being depressed and nothing happening but finally after stopping my medication with my doctors consent I have energy to do this now. Wow how different it feels to have energy.
I have completed this and realised my two drawers of officey things needs to be cleaned out.
How do you stop from getting yourself too overwhelmed?
I normally just look at what I have to do and get so overwhelmed it actually tires me (I have fibromyalgia which was worse due to stress at work).
all the best to everyone

Jodie, it sounds like you have been through so much this past 12 months. It was lovely of your mum to help you declutter, but if you feel she is the source of your hoarding, perhaps she is not the best person to help you with the process as it sounds like she may have hindered it slightly. I shared a blog post last week that may help you with the overwhelm feelings: https://theorganisedhousewife.com.au/a-housewifes-guide-to/thriving-at-home/keep-going-unmotivated/ I would love you to attempt the chip away at it strategy. Put 10 minutes on your timer and do what you can in that time. Then do something else. Go back and do another 10 minutes. Taking it slow will be key to prevent the overwhelm for you. Do you have an alternative space/storage for our sewing?

Hi Kat
Thanks for all those tips, will definitely try the timer thing.
I have been trying to put some of the items in the old garage that I can at least it’s out of the house. Slowly I am selling things on ebay so moving forward.
Thanks for the link I will have a read of it Cheers Jodie
