Clean – Free Choice
Through this challenge I have tried to add every room in the house and some of the items that need a good clean (such as the washing machine and oven). But every home is different and I may have missed a room in your home. Â Use today to spend time cleaning that forgotten room, area or item. Â What will you be cleaning today?

Declutter – Freezer
I often freeze left over meals as single portions or make double batches and freeze as a whole meal so I get a night off cooking on a busy day and you will always find some baking amongst my freezer shelves. Today’s task is to go through your freezer and remove anything that has passed it’s freezer use-by date, such as meat.  If you find some food or meals that need using soon add them to this weeks meal plan. By clearing the old food from your freezer will give you room to add a few meals so you can have some nights off cooking and make room for some baking that can be added to lunch boxes.
I keep all my fruit and veg in containers to prevent freezer burn and the green basket on the left hold my frozen bananas.Â

I always keep biscuits in the freezer for lunch boxes

Organise –Â Baking Day
As I mentioned above, you will always find baking in my freezer.  I always add something baked to the lunchboxes like a muffin or biscuits.  I usually always bake with the intention to freeze.  By placing it in the freezer the day I bake it means that it is just as fresh when defrosted.  I place the frozen muffin/biscuits into lunch boxes that morning and it’s always defrosted by morning tea time.  I  spend an hour or two in the kitchen every few weeks to stock up the freezer.  You can read more about my baking day process here.
Organise some time for you to bake some muffins or cookies for your freezer to have on hand when unexpected visitors drop by or for lunch boxes. Â The major benefit of this is you are saving money rather than purchasing store-bought items.
I have released my new Lunch Box Recipes Cookbook, which has all my favourite lunch box recipes that I cook my kids. Each of these recipes is freezer friendly for you to make for lunch boxes or to have on hand for after-school snacks. Rather than scrolling through my blog for recipes, they are all now conveniently in one place, click here to purchase.Â

I am just wondering do all these task / hints and tips stay available – when we log in to our account after the challenge ends! – for those of us who are a little behind ( that would be me ! )
Absolutely Anne.:) You have lifetime access to the challenge so you can come back at anytime and follow along.
That is wonderful news… I have been really getting in to the tasks however I have been at half the pace and only halfway through at this point. I really appreciate the effort put into this program and the step by step approach which makes big tasks so much easier. thanks so much for the inspiration and assistance with getting organised.
When will the next challenge start?
Hi Denise, There will be another one mid year. No dates are yet confirmed, please keep your eyes out.:)
Thank you Kat and Kate for everything. Sorry to be a pain but can I ask for the list of 5 min tasks, I think on Day 1, under the 5 minute task heading, you said you would provide a list of all of them at the end of the challenge. I asked on Facebook but I think my message got swallowed by all the others…I thought somebody asked for it but it was actually stated on your site on Day 1.
Also quick food question Kat, can you freeze cooked scrolls, instead of baking them on the morning?
Hi Natalie, Ooh our pleasure! So happy to hear you enjoyed the challenge. Yes no problem at all in freezing cooked scrolls.:)
Hi
Just wondering if we have continued access to this site at the end of the 20days ?
Thanks
Hi Caroline, yes you do, you have lifetime access to all the content on here and can join in when the next round is run 🙂
Hi Kat, Just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful journey. I now have a much more organised and beautifully looking home. Something I am proud of. I have enjoyed the journey with others too, seeing the struggles and achievements of everyone. This has been much more than a cleaning adventure. I still have a couple of things to organise but they are on my To Do List. I have downloaded your checklist, did not realise about the discount, but that is OK. I have learnt so much about cleaning and I am starting to make my own cleaning products. Both my home and my workplace have changed, everyone came to look at my office and admire, so there you go! Thanks again, and I look forward to keeping in touch via your webpage with anything new.
Susanne
Susanne that is so lovely to hear!.:) We are so very happy for you! A huge congratulations to you.:)
I enjoyed the month so much and found it really helpful. I am going to start on Monday again and do the 20 day challenge in November as well just to keep on top of things
Wonderful Gillian!.:)
Hi there,
Just wondering if the Facebook group will still remain open as I am way behind.
Also will you still be available to ask cleaning questions etc?
Even though I am so behind, I Thankyou for putting this challenge together and for helping me to have a much tidier house.
Renee
Hi Renee, Yes the facebook page will remain open. You can ask questions, we won’t be in there as much answering questions but we will pop in from time to time to see how everyone is going.:)
Hello Kat & Kate – thank you so much for your advise and help with keeping and being organised. I am not quiet up to speed with all the task but my house is looking pretty good!! Thanks again – just a quick question how long do we have access to this information – 20 day challenge printouts etc? Thanks – Amanda
Hi Amanda, How wonderful to hear! It is so lovely to hear.:) Yes you are now a lifetime member so you will continue to have access to the challenge.
Hi Kat I am still having trouble accessing this weeks days. For today’s I can’t get through with either access. Luckily I still had yesterday’s up. I have also posted some photos on Facebook. How do I contact you otherwise. I received the email about Christmas If I usually receive emails from you will I get the Christmas ones. Thank you.
Hi Christine, Hmmm i have had a look and everything is open from this end. I’m really not sure what is happening. I will take another look at it for you.
Dear Kat and Kate, Thank you so much for the invaluable experience and information you provided. I was reminded of how rewarding it can be, to be a ‘HOME’ maker for your family (what ever shape or size). Over the last 20 days, I have been thinking of my grandmother and all the routines and things did in her home…. She would never sweep on new years day because all the luck for the year goes out the door! She baked beautifully and was always involved in community work, she sewed all her clothes and her children’s, and worked on the property with my granddad. It seemed a harder life then, but the memories of time spent with her and her love in what she did are still with me, as strong as ever. It seems that sometimes the simplest things can be the most rewarding! Like a pantry that you can see into and find things, or a home made bottle of relish in it! Now to set some memories and traditions up for my brood. Thank you again. Kristie
Hi Kristie, Ooh how lovely of you to write such a beautiful email!.:) I’m sure you are making wonderful memories in your home that your family will remember forever. x
What a lovely comment you made. Taking pride in being a “housewife” is the new black in my book. Our role is often undervalued but when you see a house run smoothly with well balanced healthy children and a happy marriage there is often only one place to look. I say be proud of doing a good job of cleaning your home and having a beautiful vase of flowers picked out of your own garden and food cooked from scratch. It will give you and your family a strong sense of who they are and tools that the children will take with them wherever they go. Well done Kat for your commitment to raising the bar for the humble housewife!!!
Ooh thank you so much for the lovely comment Philippa.:)
Hi Cat – I’m sneaking ahead here and last night (NZ time) I ordered the cleaning checklists (and the xmas planner) from your online shop. I’m just checking to see that it’s usual for it to take a while to come through? I’ve had the Paypal receipt confirmation but not the documents yet – honestly no rush but just thought I’d check in case they were meant to come through automatically? Thanks Cat ! Kimberley x
Hi Kimberley, Yes it should go through immediately. Could you please just check you “accounts page” and if it is not there please send me an email and i will look into further for you. Also just check your email in the Junk file incase it has gone there.
