PRE CHALLENGE TASKS

by Kat - The Organised Housewife August 9, 2014September 21, 2017

The pre tasks are a series of activities that you will need to complete to help you be ready and prepared for the 20 days, such as creating a routine you can follow during the 20 days and beyond, putting together a cleaning bucket so you have all products needed for each of the cleaning tasks etc.

ACCESSING LINKS AND DOWNLOADS

You will see throughout the challenge that I share additional links back to The Organised Housewife blog as well as downloadable printables. To open the link for more tips or to download the files simply click on the link and they will take you to view further information or to open downloads.  These links are pink text like this.

WHAT TO EXPECT EACH DAY OF THE CHALLENGE?

Each day consists of the following tasks:

  • Clean
  • Organise
  • Declutter
  • New Habit
  • 5 minutes only

The 5 minute only task doesn’t need to be completed each day.  This task is for when you mmay beon the phone, or have a few spare minutes to tidy up an area.  Please don’t spend too much time on this, 5 minutes max!!

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH TIME?

I know that everybody has different aged or number of children, schedules or work commitments so please adapt these tasks around your time and family.  If you are not able to complete one of them that is perfectly OK, it can be finished at a different time.

WHY 20 DAYS?

A 4 week period is a good starting block to get your home under control. I have set tasks for five out of the seven days each week.  I don’t believe in cleaning every single day, we need to take time out (weekends or a days of your choice) to spend time with family and enjoying the outdoors. Please do not feel pressured to complete all the day’s task in the one day, if you can’t that’s fine, push this 20 days to 40 days if you need.  Make this challenge work around your schedule.

I don’t enjoy it either Susan, however, what I do like about it is the after effect and how it makes me feel so makes the time doing it worth it!! Hope you enjoy the challenge.

Hi Kat. I have to admit I am so excited for this challenge while at the same time absolutely petrified of it. I really need help with the clutter, the organization and the cleaning routine in my house and this challenge couldn’t have come at a better time! I’m scared that I won’t be able to accomplish it but I can’t wait to be able to have guests over when ever they want to drop by without panicking and scrambling to throw all the junk that accumulates on our kitchen table and counter into a bin and put in it the garage, only to have to then sort through the multiple bins that have accumulated now in the garage. And all that’s not even to mention the lack of a cleaning routine and how stressed I feel that my house is so out of control. Please help me take back control!

Hi Michelle, take one day at a time, if you can’t complete all the tasks that’s OK, perhaps set yourself a goal to do all the organising tasks each day and if you can fit in the cleaning task that’s a bonus. Through the challenge I will share with you some of the routines that I have got in the habit of completing which will help you keep control of your home.

Thanks Kat for the aspiration that you are.

Excited reading everyone’s comments and feeling like I’m not in this by myself. I have been wanting to get organized for years and have struggled with doing this.

I am known to be a collecter of chairs, photo frames and mirrors. I have started the cull! Feeling better already!
