PRE CHALLENGE TASKS

by Kat - The Organised Housewife August 9, 2014September 21, 2017

The pre tasks are a series of activities that you will need to complete to help you be ready and prepared for the 20 days, such as creating a routine you can follow during the 20 days and beyond, putting together a cleaning bucket so you have all products needed for each of the cleaning tasks etc.

ACCESSING LINKS AND DOWNLOADS

You will see throughout the challenge that I share additional links back to The Organised Housewife blog as well as downloadable printables. To open the link for more tips or to download the files simply click on the link and they will take you to view further information or to open downloads.  These links are pink text like this.

WHAT TO EXPECT EACH DAY OF THE CHALLENGE?

Each day consists of the following tasks:

  • Clean
  • Organise
  • Declutter
  • New Habit
  • 5 minutes only

The 5 minute only task doesn’t need to be completed each day.  This task is for when you mmay beon the phone, or have a few spare minutes to tidy up an area.  Please don’t spend too much time on this, 5 minutes max!!

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE ENOUGH TIME?

I know that everybody has different aged or number of children, schedules or work commitments so please adapt these tasks around your time and family.  If you are not able to complete one of them that is perfectly OK, it can be finished at a different time.

WHY 20 DAYS?

A 4 week period is a good starting block to get your home under control. I have set tasks for five out of the seven days each week.  I don’t believe in cleaning every single day, we need to take time out (weekends or a days of your choice) to spend time with family and enjoying the outdoors. Please do not feel pressured to complete all the day’s task in the one day, if you can’t that’s fine, push this 20 days to 40 days if you need.  Make this challenge work around your schedule.

Task 1 completed. Starting on Task 2, just need to grab a few more supplies that I don’t have.
Looking forward to a cleaner, more organised house.

Hi Kat

Just purchased the challenge. I’ve been following you now for a while and I love what you do. 🙂 I have 2 boys, an 8 year old and 1.5year old. I’m looking forward to getting this place in order! I’m hoping it will help me stay organised! I seem to spend my whole time tidying up after everyone else and when I do organise things they seem to get disorganised again very quickly!! Aarraagghh!! Lol!

We will be moving house at the end of the year so I’m also hoping this will help with that also. 🙂

Thanks so much for the help.

S xx

Just joined Kat, so looking forward to this. Everything you mentioned in your preview is me, definitely not being in control and having everything snowball does take a toll on the way we feel. Looking forward to a life change.

I Kat I am so looking forward to this challenge. I can also relate to your loss as is with others. My husband and I lost both out parents all in the one year, all at different times. As a result our house is topsy turvy with an accumulation of stuff. I am also a bit of a hoarder. This challenge has lifted my spirits. Thank you

I’m so sorry for your loss Jenny, that must of been an emotional year for you. Remember all the stuff you have inherited you don’t need to keep for the happy memories, you will forever have those memories that can be reminded through photos. Keeping too much of their clutter will only change those now happy memories into sadness for you today. I have learnt that I didn’t need to keep a lot of my mums things for the memories, they were items she loved, me not so much, I have other wonderful memories and things that will make me happy.

Hi, am looking forward to this process. I lost my mum 7 weeks ago and I am completely lost. The emotions that you experience on a daily basis is mind blowing. I need a focus to get me through. I hope this is the beginning of change for me.

I know how you feel Annette and I am very sorry for your loss. It will get easier, but focusing on something and not allowing your to get too out of control at home will help you through this. A great beginning for you.
