Dishes in the sink, dirty clothes in the laundry, toys on the living room floor or shoes scattered all through the garage…does this sound familiar? We all take pride in our home, but at times it can all get too much. Perhaps you have a baby and struggling to create a new routine, you’re working full time, you’re wanting to spend time with family rather than cleaning, you’re not feeling yourself, lacking energy, you’re a hoarder… or maybe you are just overwhelmed with everyday life.
The clutter around us can have a negative impact on our ability to focus. However, by clearing the clutter from your home, it can help you feel clearer, mentally as well.
CREATE SOME GOALS
I want to ask you a few questions. Write down your answers as this will help you to create goals for yourself and determine what’s most important to you, where to start and what you want to achieve in your home.
- When at home I want to feel…
- I want to spend more time doing…
- I want an area of my home I can…
- The most disorganised cupboard in my home is…
- The first thing I want to organise is…
- I don’t need anymore, but can’t part with…
- I always lose…
- I want to be organised by…

CREATE SORT BUCKETS
During the next 4 weeks we will be organising, purging excess items and throwing away rubbish. In order to do this have on hand a number of buckets, bins, bags or storage containers. Create your own labels with marker and paper, or download and print the labels available in the downloads below, you will need to label them as follows:
Keep: something you find in one room that belongs in another. You could put it away once you find it, but if you are time poor put it in the keep bin to put away later
Donate: an item that you no longer want or need but is still in working order for somebody else to use
Sell: items that you can sell if you are going to have a garage sale or sell online
Rubbish: items that are broken, can’t be mended, doesn’t work or is rubbish

All done and looking forward to the challenge now 🙂
Wahoo!!
ready to go 🙂
Love it!
I have now completed all the pre tasks, written up my goals and I am ready to go. I have already started looking at what I can get rid of. I recently did 1 purge about 2 months ago, when my daughter and son-in-law moved out into their own home.
Susanne 🙂
Not long to go now for day 1 Susanne, welcome!
Done. Keeping my list of goals short to start with and plan to add to them as I tick them off so I don’t get to overwhelmed!
You will soon determine what extra may need to be added to help you 🙂
Goals done. I have always had a donate box in the laundry. Just moved house so one of my goals is to sort the huge pile of clothes, toys etc that the family no longer use. Including some of my husbands clothes that he has had for over 20 years!
wow 20 years, that is impressive. My husband has one of those, a heavy metal shirt from his teenage days LOL.
Goals sorted. Just boxes to go. Thanks for these great wee tasks to get us on track. Can’t wait for my much more organised self/house/ family
Honestly these tasks in themselves will help you so much within your home, routines is key for me.
Completed. I am ready to go. Setting goals really helped me focus on my priorities for the 20 days.
Wow Sofia, you are on a roll, love it!!
Super excited for this. We just moved into our first home this June. Then hubby got switched to graveyards for a while, life got all turned upside-down. Now the house is a bit of a mess, and I’ve been desperately feeling the need for a reset button!
Got my stuff printed off and in a binder, pulled out a few rubbermaids to use as sorting bins during the process. Next week I shop for my cleaning caddy and supplies!
Question: Are the Norwex cloths really that much better?
Look forward to seeing how you go through the challenge Rachelle. I’ve used Norwex clothes and the bathroom one is great as it has a gritty texture and helps to get through the shower soap scum
Goal answered, all printed and laminated! 🙂 I have only recently been thinking I need to invest in a shredder, so that has been added to the shopping list.
We use our shredder all the time Lana, great investment!
Completed my goals, just have to get some tubs sorted!
I love the idea that other people are using tubs that they will repurpose later as toy boxes.
